Can I make a low power amplifier from household junk?

I only need 2 to 5 watts. Here is the deal: I want to make a foxhole radio from a pencil and razor blade and a speaker made of paper plates ( I have two different designs) but all the amps I look at are fairly sophisticated and would clash with my homesick junk theme. I want to "keep it real" in the found around the house sense.
